Air Quality Action Plan
In April 2006, we launched our Air Quality Action Plan, as part of our responsibilities under the
Environment Order for Northern Ireland (2002).
It outlines the steps that we and other bodies, including Translink and the Roads Service,
are taking to improve air quality in Belfast.
The plan also explains how we intend to meet national and European targets. We regularly assess the actions outlined in the plan to see how they are progressing.
Health Impact Assessment
The Health Impact Assessment shows which measures, outlined in the Air Quality Action Plan, could be improved to boost public health.Updating and Screening Assessment (USA)
The Updating and Screening Assessment (USA) shows whether targets to reduce the number of key pollutants in the air are being met.It has been accepted by the Department of the Environment who are responsible for summarising our current air quality status and deciding whether it has improved or declined.
The report will now form the basis of a more detailed assessment which will examine two pollutants, nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter, at specific locations in Belfast.
