Why do I need these guidelines?
During the planning process, we can ask developers and consultants to submit an Air Quality Assessment (AQA) to help us work out whether their development will have a negative effect on current air quality levels. At this stage, we may ask for certain amendments to be made to the project, if necessary.
If you are asked for an AQA, these guidance notes explain how you can comply with our requirements.
They outline situations where an assessment may be required and help encourage a consistent approach to air quality and planning in Belfast.
