Litter makes a pig of you

We want to make Belfast a cleaner and brighter place to live and visit by encouraging people to put their litter in the bin.

As part of our on-going anti-litter campaign we've launched a set of advertisements called 'Litter makes a pig of you'.

£80 litter fine
Our campaign is now in its ninth year. Research has shown that the number of people who admit to dropping litter has fallen by 14 per cent. But we want to build on this and we'll continue to spread the anti-litter message. Don't forget - if you are caught littering, you can be issued with an on-the-spot fine of £80

Last year we issued 1,650 fixed penalty fines to litterers across the city.

We also provide free pocket ashtrays and gum wraps.
