Draft partnership action plan for Ballysillan Park and Ballysillan Leisure Centre

We've worked with community groups and members of the public to create an action plan for Ballysillan Park and Ballysillan Leisure Centre.

It shows what we plan to do to reduce antisocial behaviour (ASB) in the area.



Main issues: Underage drinking, misuse of vehicles, graffiti, young people causing a nuisance, damage to private property and a reluctance amongst the local community to use park and leisure centre facilities.

Criteria for success: A reduction in the actual number of ASB incidents reported to us or to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

Aims: To reduce ASB, to cut the number of recorded incidents of criminal damage, to increase the safety and attractiveness of the park and to reduce the impression that ASB is a major problem in the area.

The plan targets five areas:

By opening the pitch for local use on Saturdays

Ballysillan Park and Leisure Centre is part of a specialised Design Out Crime focus after Year One of the Safer Neighbourhood Antisocial Behaviour Programme
Implementing the recommendations through full consultation with the community Redesign of the park to reduce ASB
By installing a Rambla bench halfway up the hill from Deer Park Preventing crowds of people from gathering due to the design of the bench Provide a resting place for people using the park
Graffiti removal Ensuring graffiti is removed by 11am on the morning it appears Ensure facilities remain clean and attractive
