Climate change
Climate change is one of the biggest issues facing the planet. Since 1900, experts estimate that Earth's average temperature has increased by 0.74°C. Further rises are expected, as well as more extreme weather like flooding and drought.
Many of our actions, such as the emission of greenhouse gases and the burning of fossil fuels, are contributing to the problem by artificially 'warming' the planet's atmosphere.
In fact, if everyone in the world lived like people in the UK, it’s estimated that three planets’ worth of resources would be needed to support us!
But there's lots we can do to help cut our carbon emissions and reduce the impact of climate change.
What you can do
Energy we use in the home, in our cars, and when travelling by air contributes to around 40% of the carbon emissions in the UK.You can find out just how much carbon dioxide you produce and how to reduce your carbon emissions by calculating your carbon footprint
We also hold regular events to encourage people to recycle more and to think about the waste they produce. Why not come along to one of our events to pick up useful tips on reducing your waste?
