Advice and suggestions for greener living
If you are a teacher or student, you can help to make your classroom or building greener.Even small things, such as switching off lights or encouraging pupils to work or cycle to school, can help save energy and money.
Here are some other suggestions:
- encourage staff and pupils to walk or cycle to work, or to use public transport where possible
- ask parents to consider a car-sharing scheme to save fuel
- think before you print. Switch to recycled paper, reduce paper sizes and always print double-sided
- recycle or refill printer cartridges
- if you're a teacher, consider how environmental objectives can fit into your teaching plans
- always put rubbish in the correct recycling bins
- put leftover food waste in a composter
- register your school for a nationwide environmental scheme such as the Yellow Woods Challenge.
