Bulky waste collections
If you have a large item you need picked up, such as a sofa, cooker, bed, mattress or door or window frame, you can request a free bulky waste collection from us.Call us on 028 9027 0230 to check whether we can pick up your item.
When you call, please tell us if you have very heavy or bulky items for collection, such as radiators, coal bunkers, oil tanks, garden sheds and pianos. We may need to arrange for a bigger lorry fitted with a special crane for lifting outsized objects to help with their collection.
If we can collect your item, we'll give you a collection date and agree a place for you to leave it out for our staff.

Do:
- Make sure we can lift your item or items
- Leave them neatly in one place so that we can easily reach them
- Tape up any glass, for example, computer monitors, mirrors or mirrored doors. We can only lift panes of glass if they are still in their frame and have been properly taped over.
- Remove any nails from wood or furniture
- Tie, tape or bundle large amounts of wood, for example, flooring, old furniture units, branches or hedging.
Don't:
- Leave out any items other than those which you booked with us originally (we also can't collect extra rubbish bags as part of a bulky waste collection)
- Leave out carpets, mattresses or cardboard packaging that is waterlogged
- Forget to drain metal and plastic oil tanks and cut these in half for collection.
How you can help us
It's very important that our staff can collect your unwanted item quickly and easily. You can help us do this by:- Making it easy for us to reach the items
- Leaving items outside your property (we can't enter parts of your home, including garages and sheds, to collect items)
- Leaving all items out as close to 7am as possible on the day of collection (putting them out too early may encourage others to illegally dump their waste with yours)
- Checking there is enough space outside your property for our lorry, especially if your collection is for a particularly heavy or bulky item which requires special machinery to lift
- Making sure your gates are unlocked and open by 7am on the day of collection.
