As a natural process, successful composting is fairly easy. Here are a few top tips for success.
Always place your home composting unit on bare ground. This allows worms, woodlice and other composting creatures to get in.
Use a good mix of brown materials (such as twigs, hedge clippings, cardboard and shredded paper) and green materials (such as grass cuttings, weeds and vegetable peelings.)
Don't put too much of any one thing in at once. If possible, mix the green and brown material before adding.
Avoid adding cooked food, fish, meat or dairy as these can smell and attract vermin.
