Stolen or burnt bins

Theft of a bin is a criminal offence, and if you think your bin has been stolen you should contact the police.

If your bin has been stolen or burnt as a result of antisocial or anti-community behaviour, you may be entitled to a new bin free of charge. You will only be entitled to a free bin if you live in the Belfast City Council area. If you are unsure whether your address is in the Belfast City Council area, call us on 0800 032 8100 to check.

Please report your stolen or burnt bin to your local PSNI station. You will need a PSNI reference number to order a free bin. Once you have received your PSNI reference number you can order your bin online, simply select the burnt or stolen option when requested, and complete the section. Order a new bin

Damaged bins

Bins can be damaged through general wear and tear. If this happens you'll need to order a new bin from us.

Sometimes our bin lorries can damage bins. If you think your bin has been damaged by one of our lorries you'll need to report this to us as soon as possible after you notice so that we can investigate it properly.

If you do report a damaged bin we'll contact your within five days to tell you the result of our investigation.

If you think your bin has been deliberately damaged or vandalised this is a criminal offence and you should contact the police to report it. If the bin can't be used because of the damage you will need to order a new bin.
