Report a problem with your bin

If you have a problem with your bin or your bin collection you can report it to us.

Missed bin collections

If your bin hasn't been picked up on its scheduled day, it could be because:

• It wasn't left out on time. Because our collection times can vary, we always recommend that you leave your bin out by 7am and keep it out until 8pm to make sure it is picked up.
• You've put the wrong materials in one or more of your bins. Check our recycling a to z to find out what goes in each bin.
• Your collection has fallen on a bank or public holiday when our collection times are often different. Check holiday bin collection dates
• Our bin lorry broke down.
• You bin was too heavy to lift.
• Bad weather stopped us collecting your bin.

If you lose your bin we may be able to help.

Call us on 028 9027 0230 to report your bin as lost or stolen and we'll check to see if we can track it down.

Stolen or burnt bins

Theft of a bin is a criminal offence, and if you think your bin has been stolen you should contact the police.

If your bin has been stolen or burnt as a result of antisocial or anti-community behaviour, you may be entitled to a new bin free of charge. You will only be entitled to a free bin if you live in the Belfast City Council area. If you are unsure whether your address is in the Belfast City Council area, call us on 0800 032 8100 to check.

Please report your stolen or burnt bin to your local PSNI station. You will need a PSNI reference number to order a free bin. Once you have received your PSNI reference number you can order your bin online, simply select the burnt or stolen option when requested, and complete the section. If you have any difficulties with this process or need help, please ring us on 0800 032 8100.

	Order a new bin

Damaged bins

Bins can be damaged through general wear and tear. If this happens you'll need to order a new bin from us.

Sometimes our bin lorries can damage bins. If you think your bin has been damaged by one of our lorries you'll need to report this to us as soon as possible after you notice so that we can investigate it properly.

If you do report a damaged bin we'll contact your within five days to tell you the result of our investigation.

If you think your bin has been deliberately damaged or vandalised this is a criminal offence and you should contact the police to report it. If the bin can't be used because of the damage you will need to order a new bin.

You will need a PSNI reference number to order a free bin. If you leave your bin out for collection and there is a spillage from it on your street or entry please report this to us.
