Health and safety
From 11 July 2019, Whirlpool have issued a full product recall of all unmodified tumble dryers. This is due to safety defect, caused when excess fluff touches the heating element which has been linked to a fire in a tower block in London.
This advice applies to Indesit, Hotpoint, Creda, Swan or Proline dryers manufactured between 1 April 2004 and 30 September 2015 that have not received a safety modification since warnings around these models were first issued.
If you believe your tumble dryer could be affected, you are advised to unplug it and not to use it.
Under the recall, you are entitled to a new replacement machine, which will be delivered, installed and the old one removed, at no cost to you if the safety modification has not been made. A refund based on product age or a modification is also available if you do not want to take up the offer of a replacement dryer.
