Belfast Investment Fund
Our Investment Programme includes £28.2 million for landmark projects to establish Belfast as a world-class tourist, cultural and business destination.
The Belfast Investment Fund (BIF) isn't just about our contribution – it is an example of how we hope to encourage others to invest in the city too.
Some of the schemes being considered by councillors for their areas include:
- Stranmillis Gateway – improvement and development works connected to the wider Lagan Corridor project
- St Comgall’s Primary School – transformation of a derelict school into an interpretative centre with displays, support services, a cafe and office units
- St Mary’s CBS (Christian Brothers' Grammar School) – new 3G pitch facility with changing rooms, gym and training room for community and schools use
- Markets Tunnels at Lanyon Place - a proposal to reopen the eight tunnels under the East Bridge Street viaduct for community and social economy business use and as an access point from the Markets community to the city centre.
These projects are all at different stages of development, and we are working with communities and partners to develop the proposals, explore other potential funding streams and build capacity to support their delivery.
