Health and safety guidelines and bye-laws for businesses

This information is only for business owners.

We register businesses which provide the following services:

• acupuncture
• cosmetic piercing
• hairdressing or barber services
• tattooing
• semi-permanent skin colouring
• electrolysis

You must also register with us if your business contains any of the following:

• poisonous substances
• cooling towers and evaporative condensers

In this section, you can register your business online and read the different bye-laws or guidelines relating to each service.

Once you are registered with us, we carry out regular checks to check you are complying with the bye-laws for your operation.

Other information

Our inspectors also check businesses for cleanliness and hygiene and regulate premises which sell age-restricted products like alcohol, tobacco and butane.
