Cemeteries

Burials can take place in three of our cemeteries - Roselawn, Dundonald and Belfast City Cemetery

Roselawn is currently the only cemetery with new burial plots available. There are no new grave plots available in either Dundonald or Belfast City Cemetery, but burials can still take place in existing graves.

Cremations are conducted at City of Belfast Crematorium We also maintain five historical cemeteries. Find out more about their background by using the links below:

Burial records

You can now look up burial records online using our search facility.

The service allows you to search for burial records in Belfast from 1869 onwards. Around 360,000 records are available relating to Belfast City Cemetery, Roselawn Cemetery and Dundonald Cemetery.

Ever wondered what lies beyond some of our oldest graveyard walls or who is buried in some of our oldest plots? We want to encourage people to visit our cemeteries and discover their fascinating heritage, as well as the wealth of wildlife that resides amongst our headstones, memorials, hedgerows and mature trees.

Even a casual walk through our cemeteries reveals much about Belfast's social history and citizens, as well as the families who played a vital role in the political, cultural and professional life of Belfast over the last few centuries.
