Background
The screens are erected and run in partnership between the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), the BBC and various Live Site venues, in association with London 2012 partners BT and Lloyds TSB, supporter Cisco and the National Lottery through the Olympic Lottery Distributor. The Belfast Live Site screen is assisted locally by Belfast City Council, the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure and the Department for Social Development.
The Belfast Live Site is positioned on the west lawn at City Hall. The screen will be the destination for news, events and live screenings of the Games in 2012.
Events are being planned throughout 2011 and in the lead-up to the Games in 2012.
There are 21 Live Sites operating at locations across the UK. Belfast City Council and its partners in the Games will work with the BBC to ensure that the Live Site brings the public the latest news in the lead-up to the 2012 Games and is at the centre of the action during the Olympic and Paralympic Games next summer.
Each screen is programmed to feature a broad range of national and local content, events and partnerships with community, arts and media organisations.
