Civil partnership in the Registrar's office

Civil partnerships take place in our ceremony room in Belfast City Hall.

Choosing a date

If you are planning on having a civil partnership ceremony in a year's time or longer, you can make a provisional booking.

If you want a date within the next 12 months, you can also make a definite booking, subject to availability.

Easter to October is our busiest season and Fridays and Saturdays are particularly popular days.

You are advised to book your ceremony as early as possible to secure the date and time you want.

Fees payable

The following prices currently apply to civil partnerships in the Registrar's office.

They should be submitted before your ceremony, when you return your civil partnership notice forms.

Weekday ceremonies usually take place at the following times: Saturday and bank holiday ceremonies usually take place at the following times: Please note that, because we hold weddings and civil partnership ceremonies every hour, failure to keep to your appointed time could result in your ceremony being postponed or cancelled.

On the day

Full details of the ceremony format, including information about dress, music and flowers, are available in our civil marriage brochure.

Details of your choice of format should be returned to the Registrar no later than two weeks before your ceremony date, along with any necessary documents or equipment.

Cancellation

If you change your plans or decide to postpone your ceremony, you must notify the Registrar as soon as possible.
