Hammer Community Centre
Hammer Community Centre is located on Agnes Street, between the Shankill and Crumlin Roads. We offer a wide variety of facilities for local residents, including a main building, pavilion and football pitch.
The centre caters for a range of ages and activities and offers courses in a number of areas.

Opening hours
- Monday to Thursday - 9am to 5.30pm and 6pm to 10pm
- Friday - 9am to 4.30pm and 6pm to 9.30pm.

Our projects
Hammer Community Centre takes part in a number of community projects.These include:
Free computer classes for over 50s
Thanks to support from the Big Lottery Fund, we're now offering a one-year programme of basic computer classes. Designed specifically for people aged 50 or more, they are ideal for budding 'silver surfers' who are keen to build confidence and knowledge of technology and the Internet.The courses will include:
- a very basic induction class for those with no previous computer experience
- a basic introduction to computers for beginners
- a basic introduction to digital photography.
Pathways project
This Extern children’s project works with 15 and 16-year-olds who have been excluded from formal education.It offers group work, formal qualifications and recreational activities. For more information, call Pathways on 028 9074 2424.
Digital Communities project
We are one of four Digital Community project centres in Belfast.The project provides opportunities for computer training and community development.
Our own computer suites are used both as informal drop-in facilities and for computer courses.

- Monthly older person's advice clinic - 1.30pm to 3.30pm (second Tuesday of the month)
- Steelheels Kickboxing Academy - 4pm to 6pm
- Oldpark and Cavehill Royal British Legion – 7.30pm to 9pm (third Tuesday of the month).
Wednesday
- Life After Disability – 10am to 12.30pm
- Cairnlodge Boxing Club – 6.30pm to 8.30pm
- Activity Club (five to 11-years-old) – 6.30pm to 9pm.
Thursday
- Pathways project – 9.30am to 1pm
- Steelheels Kickboxing Academy – 4pm to 6pm
- Cairnlodge Boxing Club – 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Friday
- Unemployed Club– 10am to 12pm
- Life After Disability – 10am to 12.30pm
- Cairnlodge Boxing Club – 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Seasonal activities
We also run a number of seasonal projects including:- March – St Patrick’s celebration event
- March and April – Easter scheme (five to 12-year-olds)
- July and August – summer scheme
- October and November – Halloween scheme (five to 12-year-olds)
- December – senior citizens’ Christmas dinner.
