Community Support Plan
Much of our community development work is done through our Community Services section, which manages community centres, grant programmes and community development staff across Belfast.
Each year, the work of this section is shaped and supported by a Community Support Plan.
We recently carried out a public consultation on our plan for 2011-2014, as part of work we are also carrying out on a Community Development Strategy for the city.
What is a Community Support Plan?
The work of our Community Services section is partly funded by the Department for Social Development's Community Support programme which allocates money to councils in Northern Ireland to help them deliver programmes which increase participation and support community development in local neighbourhoods. To be eligible for funding, councils must put together a Community Support Plan which describes how they plan to deliver services which help meet these goals. You can find out more about the Community Support programme on the Department for Social Development website
At the heart of the plan are details of services which help to strengthen communities and promote social inclusion for everyone.
