Call for sponsors for Belfast Business Awards The Belfast Business Awards 2011 take place on 14 April 2011 and we are looking for sponsors. A number of sponsors have already signed up to support the awards but there is still an opportunity for potential sponsors to come on board.
We, along with the Management and Leadership Network, are holding a joint event, Start up... Sell on, on 7 October 2010. The event will feature two real-life case studies of businesses that have invested in their management and leadership skills and, as a result, have witnessed significant growth in their companies. The Department for Employment and Learning will also give a brief overview of the range of development initiatives available for small businesses.
Get Your Business Online - Free event Google are running a free event at Belfast Waterfront on Wednesday 6 October. Google's UK Managing Director, Matt Brittin will be presenting Google's initiative to help 'Get Northern Irish Businesses Online', where with BT and Paypal, they have made getting a website quick, simple and free. Helping to address your recruitment needs
LEMIS (Local Employment Intermediary Services) is funded by the Department for Employment and Learning and is run by local community organisations across Belfast. The aim is to assist unemployed people, particularly those deemed to be furthest removed from the labour market, to find and sustain employment.
Thinking about starting or growing a business?
Franchising offers entrepreneurs an opportunity to start or grow an existing business in a way which many people may not have traditionally considered. The initiative includes two separate programmes aimed at helping entrepreneurs start or expand their businesses through franchising. Both programmes target Belfast and Lisburn-based entrepreneurs, small businesses and social enterprises (employing less than 20 people).

Investors in People
We, in conjunction with the Department for Employment and Learning are promoting the opportunity for organisations to join an Investors in People group programme. An information session is being held on Thursday 28 October at Malone House, from 10.30am to 1pm.
