Types of service
A total of 30 minutes is reserved for each service at the City of Belfast Crematorium.
If you need more time, a double booking can be made at no extra cost.
Your time dates from when you arrive at the entrance to the crematorium's funeral church.
Religious services
You can arrange for a minister to take the service on your behalf, or our crematorium staff can provide you with a minister, if you tell us at least one day in advance.Sometimes, families choose to have a service in their own church before coming to the crematorium.
In these circumstances, a minister will usually conduct a short committal service at the crematorium, which lasts around ten minutes.
However, a full service, which includes a sermon, prayers, a reading and one or two hymns, may also take place.
Non-religious services
Non-religious services can also take place in the crematorium.Families can provide their own speaker, or our staff can provide one for you, if you tell us at least two days in advance.
This gives the speaker time to liaise with the family and gather information about the deceased.
Ethnic minority services
The City of Belfast Crematorium caters for all beliefs, religions and cultures. We have experience arranging cremations for those from the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Chinese communities.
Music and readings
Families are free to devise their own services and deliver them themselves or through a family member or friend.Families may also bring their own music, although we offer a wide range of religious and non-religious music.
Sample readings are also available from the crematorium.
