More than 50 different festivals take place in Belfast each year and, in 2005 alone, more than half a million people attended festival events in the city.
The oldest part of the city, the Cathedral Quarter, has become a hub for entertainment and arts activities. Home to May’s annual Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, the area boasts a mix of hip bars and restaurants, contemporary art galleries and the magnificent St Anne’s Cathedral.
