Disabled Go
Disabled Go is an organisation which helps people with disabilities and their families and friends. It provides a national online access guide which gives detailed information about how accessible certain venues are. The guide allows people with disabilities to check a venue or facility online and judge for themselves which shops and services are accessible to them.
Venues are researched by Disabled Go staff, both in person and on site, and are assessed across a range of categories, including wheelchair access, toilet facilities, car parking and hearing loop access.
Which venues have been assessed?
We worked with Disabled Go to hold consultation meetings with key stakeholders from the business, voluntary and community sectors. After asking for suggestions of venues to be reviewed for accessibility, a total of 986 shops or services were researched by the Disabled Go team. This included many of our own venues, such as:
- Belfast Castle
- Belfast City Hall
- Belfast Welcome Centre
- St George's Market
- Malone House
- Smithfield Market
- Belfast Waterfront.
