District Policing Partnership
Belfast District Policing Partnership (DPP) was set up on 6 March 2003.The District Policing Partnership Principal Partnership is made up of ten political representatives and nine independent members from the local community.
The DPP has a number of functions. They are:
- to support the work of its subgroups
- to monitor the subgroups' effectiveness in performing their statutory functions
- to provide a strategic overview of the work of the Principal Partnership and its subgroups.
Each group is made up of 11 members, including six political representatives and five independent members of the public.
Their main role is to:
- provide views to police district commanders and the Northern Ireland Policing Board on matters concerning policing in Belfast
- monitor police performance in carrying out the Annual Policing Plan for Belfast and local policing plans for parts of the city
- make arrangements to gain the views of the public about policing in Belfast and to boost co-operation between the public and the police in order to prevent crime
- act as a general forum for discussion and consultation on matters affecting policing in Belfast.
