Enforcement
We have a responsibility to enforce a range of legislation which helps make Belfast a safe place to live, work and visit.
This legislation covers things like:
- Antisocial behaviour
- Building control
- Cleansing and waste management
- Environmental health
- Licensing (including entertainment and street trading)
- Parks, playing fields and open spaces.
This policy will help you understand and fulfil your legal responsibilities more easily. And it will help us respond proportionately to non-compliance, avoiding imposing unnecessary costs while taking firm action against those who flout the law.
We'll use this policy in all our dealings with businesses or members of the public and may be supported by specific enforcement guidelines, procedures and documentation to help our officers make enforcement decisions.
