Belfast PEACE IV Connections Culture Café

Celebrating diversity is a key aim of the PEACE IV programme. Belfast is fortunate to be home to many different communities. The Connections Culture Cafés will create connections by bringing people together in a safe setting. Co-hosted by different communities across the City, this series of Culture Cafés will help promote contact and understanding between communities in Belfast.

Culture Café

Come along and meet other communities to learn about and experience different cultures at these pop up events which will include:

  • Personal life stories and their contribution to the history of Belfast
  • Cultural insights and performances
  • Cultural traditions such as food, fashion, art and language

The programme is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.

African Culture Café

  • Tuesday 1 October 2019
  • 6pm - 8pm
  • Girdwood Community Hub, 10 Girdwood Avenue, Belfast, BT14 6EG

The established Sudanese Youth Community will join us for a showcase of African Culture. This event will give you the opportunity to taste African cuisine, appreciate traditional African music, learn about the different languages spoken in Africa, the clothing worn and the history of the African community here in Belfast, through open dialogue with the young people.

Arabic Culture Café

  • Friday 8 November 2019
  • 6pm - 8pm
  • Agape Centre, 236-266 Lisburn Road, Belfast, BT9 6GF

Immerse yourself in Arabic culture, find out about the language of the future, traditional dress, music and even try an intricately designed Henna tattoo, all with representatives of Arabic Culture living here in Belfast.

Grand Culture Café Winter Edition

  • Wednesday 18 December 2019
  • 1pm - 4pm
  • Banqueting Suite, Belfast City Hall, BT1 5GS

Share, learn about and experience the vibrant cultural traditions celebrated in Belfast. This highly interactive event will showcase music, art, performance and history in the grand setting of the City Hall.
