Inside Out: new photography from China

Date: 23 Jan 2020 - 21 Mar 2020
Time: 7pm - 9pm (on opening night)
Venue: Belfast Exposed

Belfast Exposed is delighted to present a co-curated selection of works from 15 renowned photographers, lecturers and students from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts. ‘Inside Out’ is an exchange programme in partnership with Ulster University (Photographic Department) and Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in our Sister City Shenyang, China.

The exhibition explores Chinese history, values and identity while reflecting on personal journeys of self-discovery and memory. The natural world has a strong presence with investigations into landscape that encapsulates a sense of place and being. Technology is explored through changes in society and use of photography reflecting on positives and negatives that at times has a focus on a ritualistic process of documentary. Traditions play a significant role through the use of colour and light, reflecting on Chinese culture as well as providing discourse on how art and image can be interpreted by the audience.
