Belfast Lough Exploration

Join us on a magical exploration and sailing experience of Belfast Lough on board the Brian Boru, a classic traditional gaff rigged wooden sailing ketch. You set sail from Belfast Marina for a two and a half hour exploration sail of Belfast Lough. Then on your return join the Titanic’ Foundations Wee Tram and visit the birthplace of Titanic, experience the story of the shipyard and get close to giants Samson & Goliath.

The event is open to young people from the Belfast City Council area, aged 11 – 15 of all abilities.

Group 1

10am: Sign in at Belfast Marina with our Community Development Officer and sail training volunteers.

10:30am – 1pm: Board Brian Boru ship at Marina for 2.5 hours exploration sail into Belfast Lough.

A sail training volunteer will accompany the sail with fact sheets of harbour and Lough history and interests supplied by the Titanic Foundation and Harbour authorities.

1.15pm – 2.15pm: Tour of Titanic and docks area on the Wee Tram, with information sheets on the port of Belfast.

2.15pm – 2.45pm: Evaluation and feedback and issue of certificates.


Group 2

11:30: Sign in at Belfast Marina with our Community Development Officer and sail training Volunteers.

12 noon – 1pm: Tour of Titanic and docks area on the Wee Tram, with information sheets.

1.30pm - 4pm: Board Brian Boru ship at Marina for 2.5 hour exploration sail into Belfast Lough.

A sail training volunteer will accompany the sail with fact sheets supplied by the Titanic Foundation and Harbour authorities

4pm – 4.30pm: Evaluation and feedback and issue of certificates.
