UK Pipe Band Championships 2018 in association with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association
Date: 16 Jun 2018
Time: 10am to 6pm (approximately)
Venue: Stormont Estate, Belfast
The magnificent sound of pipes and drums will be making their way to Belfast’s Stormont Estate this June, as Belfast hosts the UK Pipe Band Championships for the final year in its four-year deal.
These championships allow the best local pipers, dancers and drummers to compete with participants from across the UK, Ireland and further afield.
This free event will run from 10am to 6pm (approximately). The competition will feature up to 100 bands from varying competition grades ranging from juvenile right up to Grade One along with drum majors and highland dancers who will all be hoping to be crowned UK champions.
Between competitions there’ll be a number of food, drink and tartan stalls (cash only) and fun activities for young and old to enjoy. Or simply pack up the picnic blanket, come along and enjoy the music.
Gates open 8.30am, with vehicular access via Stoney Road only. Pedestrians can enter from the main gates on the Upper Newtownards Road. Please note that due to ongoing road works within the area you should allow adequate time for your journey.
All blue badge parking spaces have now been allocated, further bookings cannot be made.
Free, unreserved parking within the Stormont estate will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Only bus and coach parking arranged via the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association can be accommodated.
There are no camping facilities available onsite; the nearest campsite is at the Ice Bowl, Dundonald.
