Pre Market Engagement / Information Session – T1903 Tender for the delivery of the Belfast Full Fibre Programme – Asset Reuse
Date: 3 Aug 2018
Time: 2pm - 4.30pm
Venue: 9 Adelaide Street Belfast, BT2 8DJ
Belfast was officially announced as one of 13 cities to receive an award from the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport’s Local Full Fibre Network Programme.
The project, led by Belfast City Council, recognises that the provision of quality, reliable high-speed connectivity is a necessity for a 21st century economy and society. The Council has identified an opportunity to make available public sector duct assets within the city to encourage the rollout of fibre infrastructure by commercial operators. This is part of the Council’s Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) initiative and is referred to as Public Sector Asset Reuse (PSAR).
The Council seek to procure a suitably qualified contractor to survey the assets and undertake any remediation works which may be required, to ensure that the assets are fit for purpose. The objective is to be able to consider offering non-discriminatory, open access to the assets on an ad hoc basis, at a market rate, whenever an access request is made.
The Council has appointed FarrPoint to provide support throughout this process. The council is holding a Market Information Session to be held at the Council offices (9 Adelaide Street Belfast, BT2 8DJ) on Friday 3 August from 2pm – 4.30pm. The information session has a dual purpose of covering the procurement of survey and remediation works, and also to look at the appetite of the market in utilising the ducts.
Anyone interested in attending the session is requested to register by emailing Suzanne Clarke email@example.com as early as possible.
