Aimed at young Belfast based businesses, this competition will take the form of a Dragons’ Den style event where selected finalists will be invited to pitch their business plan to our panel of judges.

If you think you have what it takes to impress our judges then why not step up and pitch your business plan to the panel and be in with a chance of winning £5000 cash – a fantastic boost to any young business.

The competition provides an opportunity to receive feedback from experts on your business plan and a chance to earn some financial injection to take your idea to the next level.

Eligibility Criteria

This competition is open to individuals in the Belfast City Council area who have started a business in the last two years or completed the ‘Go For It’ programme or other business start-up initiative.

Our judges

Michael Kelly, Managing Director, Glandore
Michael Kelly is the Managing Director of Glandore, Ireland’s leading provider of flexible workspace with nine properties across Belfast, Dublin and Cork. 

Theo Michell, Principal, Bywater
Theo has a background in regeneration and urban design. He spent 5 years at Jones Lang LaSalle in their Strategic Consulting and Development and Asset Strategy teams working on large development and regeneration projects for public and private sector clients, before founding Bywater Properties with Richard Walker.

Dominic Kearns, Managing Director, B4B Telecoms
Since moving into the telecommunications sector in 2014, Dominic is recognised as one of a new age of telecoms executives currently disrupting the market in Northern Ireland. Dominic’s leadership and progressive vision sees him head up the current management team as Chief Executive to deliver on them opportunities.

Eoghan McKenna, Managing Director, MSM Law Solicitors and Advocates
Eoghan is Managing Director of MSM Law Solicitors and Advocates. With offices in Belfast, Lisburn and Omagh, Eoghan leads the entire team while also leading the MSM Criminal Law Department. Eoghan is one of the founders of MSM Law, having established the company in 2003 alongside fellow director, Paul Sweeney.

Paul McErlean, Managing Director, MCE Public Relations
Paul McErlean is Managing Director and founder of MCE Public Relations Ltd. He has over 25 years’ experience in the public, private and voluntary sectors at all levels focusing in business to business, business to consumer, corporate, financial, political and crisis communications.

Dr Majella Barkley, Innovation Director for the Innovation Factory

Dr Majella Barkley is an experienced business advisor with over 10 years’ experience working within business advisory and professional service in Northern Ireland. She has supported a wide array of clients in starting up and expanding their businesses through the development and delivery of business and innovation programmes. As the Innovation Director for the Innovation Factory (IF), she leads on the delivery of growth and innovation support services at the centre and is exceptionally proud of the innovative, forward-thinking businesses based at IF.
