St Patrick's Day carnival parade and concert

Bring your friends and family to Belfast for a fantastic St Patrick’s Day weekend, full of colour and music.

Carnival parade

Belfast will mark St Patrick’s Day on Sunday 17 March with a vibrant carnival parade. The carnival leaves from Belfast City Hall at 12.30pm and will travel along Chichester Street and Victoria Street, into High Street and Donegall Street, before finishing at Writers Square.

Come along to see:

  • eye-catching floats
  • performers and magnificent costumes
  • global musicians, and
  • local community organisations.

Free concert

After the parade, join us for a free open-air concert from 1.30pm – 4pm in Custom House Square.
Headlining this year’s concert will be Europe’s popular party act; The Vengaboys, who’ll be singing their multiplatinum hits live on stage including ‘Kiss’, ‘Boom Boom Boom Boom’ and ‘We’re Going to Ibiza’.

The exciting line-up also includes:

  • traditional music from The Whistlin’ Donkeys
  • Irish dancers ‘Fusion Fighters’
  • Belfast Ukulele Jam
  • County Down singing sensation Catherine McGrath, who recently supported Michael Bublé and Picture This
  • Ryan Sheridan, one of Ireland’s finest guitarists, who will play some of his biggest hits including ‘Jigsaw’ and ‘The Dreamer’.

You won’t be able to stop your hands clapping and your feet tapping.

Access to the concert

Access to the concert is free (no ticket is required) and entry is on a first-come, first-served basis. Terms and conditions of entry apply.

Gates to the concert open at 1.15pm and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Traffic and transport

  • Expect some minor traffic delays and diversions along the parade route from approximately 12noon to 2pm in and around the city centre.
  • On-street parking restrictions will be in place on the parade route from 5am to 2pm on Sunday 17 March.
  • Linenhall Street will be closed to traffic from 7.30am until approximately 1.30pm
  • Bus diversions will be in place between 12noon and 2pm. Visit Translink's website for further information.
  • If you are attending the event, please use public transport where possible. There is also on-street parking and city centre car parks. This includes Blue Badge holders.

We are committed to ensuring the events are fully accessible and inclusive for all. For this year’s St Patricks Day Parade and Concert, taking place on Sunday 17 March 2019, we have the following facilities available:

Carnival parade

Concert

We will allow one person plus carer only to access platform. 

This space will be on a first come first served basis on the day of event.
Please make yourself known to steward at platform. Located to rear of site.
Please note pre-booking is not available.

Sign Language Interpreter  Custom House Square
1.30pm-4pm

A Sign Language Interpreter will be located on the stage.  A dedicated area to the stage left will be available for sign language users. 

Access to this area is available on a first come, first serve basis and is not pre-bookable.  

Steward and security will be onsite to assist with any questions.
Accessible toilet provision Accessible toilets will be available in Custom House Square from 1.30pm to 4pm for the concert.

Steward and security will be onsite to assist with this.

Located to the rear of site.

Mobile accessible toilets with private adult-sized changing bench and hoist  Mobile accessible toilets with private adult-sized changing bench and hoist will be available on site from 1.30pm-4pm.

An attendant will be onsite to assist with this.

Disability access  For disabled access, entry is via the main entrance just behind the Albert Clock.

Steward and security will be onsite to assist with this.

There is no dedicated car parking for the event.
