What is the council`s role in town planning?

All planning applications should be submitted to the Department of the Environment`s Planning Service.

As part of the statutory process, the Planning Service consult with a number of organisations, including the council, regarding each application.

The Planning Service then make a final recommendation based on all the views presented to them and brought before the council`s town planning committee.

This committee meets twice a month and representatives of the Planning Service attend the meetings.
