Damage to your property

If your home or property has been damaged by flooding you should contact your local council. Residents of the Belfast City Council electoral area should contact us on 028 9027 0428.

After a flood you can use this number during office hours and additional hours will be publicised on this site and in the media.

Structural damage

Check for structural damage to your property and if you think there is damage or danger seek advice from your insurance company or builder.

Any structures which have been damaged by flooding and are now dangerous should be reported to our Building Control section on
028 9027 0650.

Electrical damage

If water has entered your home do not operate electrical switches or appliances until the wiring has been checked by a qualified electrician.

If the electricity power supply to your home has been cut you should contact Power NI on
08457 643 643.

Gas supplies

If water has entered your home don't turn on gas or gas appliances until your system has been checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Go to the Gas Safe Register website for more information.

Even if the appliances appear to be undamaged, air vents may be blocked by water or debris and it would be dangerous to turn the appliances on.

NIHE tenants

If you are a Northern Ireland Housing Executive tenant you should contact NIHE directly. They will help cleanup NIHE properties and dry out and repair any flood damage.
