What is Giant's Park?
Giant's Park will be a landmark public park for north Belfast and the
entire city. It will be made up of around 220 acres of land, currently the Dargan Road Landfill site on the North Foreshore beside Belfast Lough.
The name of the park originates from the nearby Cavehill (pictured right), which was Jonathan Swift's inspiration for the giant in Gulliver's Travels.
We are fully committed to the development of Giant's Park as a project of national and regional significance. It provides a unique opportunity to create a safe, easily accessible natural environment where people of all ages can enjoy the open spaces and recreational facilities.
Our vision for Giant's Park
Our vision is to:- create a world class park with a cross-cutting environmental, ecological, and community focus
- provide a safe, accessible urban environment owned by local communities
- improve the quality of life for citizens of Belfast through the provision of cultural, leisure, educational and recreational activities on the site.
