Kitchen
Welcome to my kitchen where I love to cook hot spicy food. A kitchen is a dangerous, busy place. I’m not the tidiest person, or environmentally friendly but imagine leaving my fridge door open like that! And my dishwasher. Mind you, I’m always sure to place the sharp points of all my cutlery safely down into the basket so I can lift them out safely and hygienically by the handle. People cut themselves all the time when the sharp prongs stick up the ways, especially if they slip and fall.
Some of the hazards found in the kitchen are:
- A broken bottle on the floor. It should be swept up and wrapped in a whole newspaper before being put in the bin.
- The floor should be mopped too.
- Any knives should be in the knife block or drawer. An iron too, as it is hot and heavy and easily pulled down and hurt someone.
- Pot handles over the edge of the cooker are just waiting for someone to get a nasty scald. Turn the handle in or use the back ring, it is much safer.
- Any cleaning bottles should be locked away or placed up high way out of reach!

The kitchen is where we cook our meals. It is full of electrical equipment such as kettles, microwaves, food processors and deep fat fryers. Never leave your cooking unattended as it may catch fire. Remember hot tea and coffee can scald. Place your cup safely so it will not spill over anyone and hurt them. It is very important that all of this equipment is switched off after using it.
