Multi-use games areas (MUGAs)

We’re investing £1million to improve existing and create new multi-use games areas (MUGAs). The MUGAs can be used to play a variety of sports including soccer, basketball, netball and Gaelic football.

We're continuing our rolling programme of improvements on our existing MUGAs and will be carrying out refurbishment work at five existing sites at:

  • Dr Pitt Park
  • Springhill Park
  • Canmore Street
  • Stewart Street
  •  North Queen Street.

Weather permitting the refurbishment work will be complete in April 2015. Improvements include:

  • Extended pitch surfacing
  • New goal units
  • New rebound fencing
  • Lockable access gates.

New MUGAs

We’re also progressing plans for new MUGAs at Springfield Avenue, Annadale and Clarendon Playing Fields. These developments will include:

  • 40m long x 20m wide polymeric rubber surface
  • 6m high ball stop fencing, and a lockable gate
  • Floodlighting
Annadale  Annadale Embankment, BT7
  • 40m long x 20m wide polymeric rubber surface
  • 3m high ball stop fencing, and a lockable gate
  • Combination goal units
  • Floodlighting
Clarendon Playing Fields 
29 Somerdale Park, BT14
  • Larger 3G floodlight pitch
  • 6m high ball stop fencing
