Stage two of the project focused on the exterior of the site.
The unsightly 'caged walkway' that previously led to the stadium has been removed and replaced by a new tree lined boulevard.
In preparation for the official opening at the end of May, we are currently asking members of the public to submit their suggestions for a name for this new road. Find out more.
The external upgrades also include new 3G pitches, a multi-use games area and play park.
From Monday 5 March 2018, the pedestrian entrance leading from Olympia Drive will be closed for approximately three weeks. This is to enable work to take place to upgrade and improve the appearance of this entrance way. Access to the centre via Boucher Road will be maintained throughout this time.
Olympia playground is also currently closed to facilitate the construction of the new 3G pitch, boulevard and play space. The nearest alternative playground is at Nubia Street.
The existing pitch will be unavailable from November 2017 until the new 3G pitch opens in May 2018.
