Religious weddings

Wedding rings If you decide to have a religious wedding, you can get married in a church, chapel or other building of worship and have an authorised officiant, usually a minister or priest, carry out your service, according to the relevant tradition.

Just as with a civil wedding, you and your partner must fill in marriage notice forms and return them to the Registrar's office, along with the other documents needed to get married.

You must ask your officiant to sign your notice forms before returning them. This will allow us to prepare your marriage schedule, which must be collected from the Registrar's office before your wedding.

Fees

The following prices apply to religious weddings. Fees should be paid before your ceremony, when you return your marriage notice forms.

On the day

You should give your marriage schedule to your officiant before your ceremony begins. Once it has finished, the schedule must be signed by both the bride and the groom, the officiant and two witnesses over the age of 16.

It should then be returned to the Registrar
within three working days, so your marriage can be registered.

Cancellations

If you change your plans or decide to postpone or cancel your ceremony, you must notify the Registrar's office as soon as possible and return your marriage schedule.
