Belfast Streets Ahead
The Belfast Streets Ahead programme is funded by the Department for Social Development (DSD).It aims to:
- attract investment from outside Northern Ireland
- encourage business development
- attract more tourists, and
- contribute to a reduction in crime by making the city centre safer with well lit, busy streets.
Street regeneration
The programme involves regenerating streets, parks and squares, including the street furniture, lighting, signs and landscaping in the following streets and spaces:- Ann Street
- Castle Lane
- Corn Market
- Arthur Street
- Callender Street
- Arthur Place
- Castle Place
- Donegall Place
- Castle Street
- Fountain Street
- College Street
- Fountain Lane, and
- Queen Street.
Public art
A key part of the programme is investment in new public art which is a good way to create outstanding and memorable public places. A new centre piece for Arthur Square entitled "Spirit of Belfast" has been commissioned.Partners in this project
This work will be carried out by the Department of Social Development. Our contractor, Farrans (Construction) Ltd, will work with Belfast City Centre Management to minimise inconvenience to traders, shoppers and visitors in the affected streets.Further information:
