Diamond couples to help Belfast celebrate Jubilee

Belfast couples celebrating 60 years of marriage in 2012 are to be VIP guests at a Diamond Tea Party in City Hall next month.
The exclusive event, scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday 3 June, will be part of Belfast City Council`s exciting Jubilee celebrations.
Couples currently living in Belfast with a 60th wedding anniversary in 2012 should telephone 02890 270495 or email lordmayorsoffice@belfastcity.gov.uk to register for tickets. Verification will be required and tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
Belfast`s new Lord Mayor – due to come into office on the afternoon of 1 June – will host the Diamond Tea Party.
As well as council funded street parties in all parts of Belfast, City Hall will be the focus for a range of Jubilee themed activities on Sunday and Monday (3 and 4 June).
Family fun will be the theme at City Hall on Monday, 4 June with a Coronation Carnival. This is a free event, open to the public from 11am to 5pm.
Rooms throughout the building will accommodate a packed programme of music, dancing, tours, fashion shows, archive film footage, craft sessions, novelty photo booth, photo exhibition, balloon modeling, face painting and children`s activities.
Outside, the grounds of City Hall will be packed with stalls for the popular Continental Market which will run from Friday 1 June to Monday 4 June.
The Ulster Hall will be the setting for a special screening of the film `The Queen` on Sunday evening (3 June). On Monday (4 June), themed tea dances will also be held at the Bedford Street venue. Tickets for the latter are already sold out.
Other celebrations to mark the Diamond Jubilee will include the lighting of a beacon, linking in with similar events across the UK, and a series of tree plantings -scheduled for the following week - in the north, south, east and west of the city.
