Blooming lovely photos on show
20 June 2012
Pictures of parks - captured as part of Belfast`s annual Parks Photographic Competition- will be on display during this year`s Rose Week in July.
The winning photographers were announced during a ceremony at Ormeau Park Bowling Pavilion and received their awards from Parks and Leisure Committee member, Councillor Tom Hartley.
Moira schoolgirl, Alice Soult, and her father, Peter, were keeping it in the family when she took first prize in the Under 16 category and her father won the People in Parks category. Last year Alice`s brother Anton was also a winner in the competition.
Winners in the four different competition categories shared in a £1,000 prize fund sponsored by Clarke Cunningham Tree Maintenance.
Congratulating everyone who took part Councillor Hartley said: “The standard of this competition just keeps getting better and the judges had a really tough decision choosing the best.
“Having the winning photos on display during Rose Week adds to the excitement for entrants because thousands of visitors will have the chance to admire them.
“It is great to see too that some of our 90-odd entrants are regulars in the competition.”
The award categories were Buildings and Art, first prize taken by Belfast man, Emmanuel Diver; People in Parks, Peter Soult, Moira; and Wildlife in Parks was won by Hng Chuan Boon, Belfast, and under 16`s won by Alice Soult (13).
A list of all award winners and photos is available on our website www.belfastcity.gov.uk/parks as is further information about the competition.
