Fundraising is a walk in the woods for Olympia Kids

17 August 2012

Kids from Olympia Summer Scheme put their best foot forward in the woods recently to raise money for NI Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC).

Today, they presented a cheque for £870, to Dawn Weir, Community Fundraising Manager at NICFC and Daryl Fordyce, Linfield Football Club. The money was raised through a sponsored walk, `a walk in the woods`, organised by Summer Scheme co-ordinators, Orla Cromer Brooks and Gary Anderson.

The four kilometre walk took place in Belvoir Park on August 16. NICFC`s family and support groups fundraiser, Briege Price, extended her thanks to everyone involved in organising the walk and to those who took part.

“Money raised will make a real difference to children across the province, providing vital practical, emotional and social support including residential weekends at our purpose built log cabin, Narnia, located in Newcastle, Co Down,” she said.

ENDS.
