New technologies
Why is the council using new technologies?
We're always looking for new ways to keep you up to date with what we're doing and find out your thoughts on the services we provide. This section explains how we're using new technologies to communicate with you.
It includes information about:
- how we're using social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr to keep you informed about what the council is doing
- new online services which help you do business with the council 24/7
- how to find out about council services using your digital television
- new features, such as RSS feeds and the Lord Mayor's blog, which we've added to the website.
Your web, your way
We understand that not everyone has a computer at home or can use a computer to look at the Internet. But you don't have to be near a PC to use this website or many of our new features. Instead, you can also access this site from:
- your mobile phone, if it is Internet-enabled
- your iPhone or Blackberry
- some iPods or MP3 players
- your Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii or other games console, if they have a browser enabled
- some TVs which offer access to the web.
