Waste treatment facility

We have decided to make a portion of land at the North Foreshore available to arc21 to build a waste treatment facility.

At a special council meeting on 22 June 2009, our councillors agreed to release this land, on the condition that it be used to build a Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) facility only, and not for an Energy from Waste (EFW) facility, which was also considered.

The facility will sort and compact waste before it is either sent to landfill or to an EFW plant.
