Art in the Park

Image: Art in the Park sculpture Since 1993, the Forest of Belfast has commissioned more than 30 public sculptures.

The Art in the Park sculptures are found throughout Belfast, usually in parks, and are all built by local artists.

Most of the sculptures show our relationship with wildlife and encourage residents to visit our parks and think about ways in which we can re-use local timber.

Details of the sculptures are included in Carving a Future for Belfast - Sculpture Commissioned by the Forest of Belfast 1993-2006 by Dr Ben Simon.

Examples

Examples of Art in the Park include: This was carved from a fallen oak tree and stands near an ancient oak tree. It shows the cycle of life and
can be used as a seat.

These seven carved oak tree trunks are found at the entrance to Barnett Demesne and on the
roundabout at the end of the Malone Road.

This large chair offers great views of the countryside around Belfast and is located in Malone House,
Barnett Demesne.

This seat can be found beside the Nature Study Centre at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park.
We also have a variety of other public art works in Victoria Park, Morelands Meadow, Botanic Gardens, Clement
Wilson Park, Belmont Park and Bankmore Square.
