Our annual Belfast Parks Photographic Competition offers you the chance to win a share of £1,000.All you have to do is take a photo in one of our parks, making sure it relates to one of the following categories:
- people in parks
- wildlife in our parks - for example, landscapes, animals, trees, plants and horticultural displays in a recognisable park setting
- buildings and arts - for example, park buildings and structures such as railings, gates, statues and sculptures.
The closing date for entries is Friday 18 May 2012.
How to enter
This competition is open to everyone, except professional photographers. Photographs must have been taken after June 2011 from an area of the park available to the public. We cannot accept photographs which have won prizes in other external competitions or previous entries to this competition.You can only enter one category, but you may submit up to three photos in your chosen category.
There are two ways to submit your entries:
Hard copy

The size of your email should not exceed 5MB - if your images are larger than this, please send them in separate emails, together with your full name and entry number in the subject line, for example, John Smith - entry 1. You should attach your entry form with your first email, if sending entries separately.
Prizes
There are prizes for the best photos received in each category - first prize (£150), second prize (£100) and third prize (£50). There are also special prizes for the best photos submitted by under 16s - first prize (£50), second prize (£30) and third prize (£20).Terms and conditions
The following terms and conditions apply to this competition:- competitors (including those under 16) can only enter one category
- entrants can submit up to three photos in their chosen category
- entrants must be the sole author and owner of copyright for all photos entered
- Belfast City Council retains the right to free reproduction and exhibition of all entries. By sending a photo to us, you grant us permission to publish your photo, or any part of it, in any media we choose, including our website and social media accounts, for an indefinite period. No payment will be made for the use of your photo.
- entries must be accompanied by an official entry form
- before submitting your entry, you must get permission from anyone who is recognisable in the photo or get permission from guardians for photos of minors or those with learning disabilities
- entries may be digitally enhanced to remove spots or scratches but they must not have content added or removed digitally - judges reserve the right to exclude any image that they believe has been excessively treated so as to alter its authenticity
- all entries are sent at the photographer's own risk and Belfast City Council is not responsible for damage or loss sustained in delivery (either electronic or hard copy) of entries
- no more than one prize will be awarded to any entrant
- a panel of judges will choose the winning photos. Their decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- no employee of Belfast City Council or Clarke Cunningham Tree Maintenance Ltd may enter this competition
- by entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules
- the closing date for this competition is Friday 18 May 2012.
