Changes to dog control

We are proposing new dog control orders. One proposal is to exclude dogs from cemeteries, children’s playgrounds, playing fields and pitches. We want your views on these proposals.

Improvements

As part of our citywide Investment Programme, we have committed £10 million to improve our pitches and changing facilities across Belfast.

This includes:

new playing pitches at Cherryvale, Woodlands, Falls Park and Ormeau Park
new changing facilities at Ballysillan, Waterworks, Musgrave
the replacement of existing facilities at Lady Dixon and Victoria parks.

Work is scheduled in to start in 2013, with an estimated completion date of 2015.

Upgrade of Mary Peters track

The Mary Peters Track is now opened following a £3 million upgrade as part of our Investment Programme

Improvements include:

new eight lane International Association of Athletics Federations specification track
refurbishment of the field area
new spectator stand.

The new track will provide a modern athletics and sporting facility for Northern Ireland and will be ready for the 2013 World Fire and Police Games which over 10,000 competitors and 40,000 spectators from across the world will attend.
