Spring walks

Here's our pick of the best walks in our parks this spring:

Victoria Park

Victoria Park is a great place for all the family to explore. Discover the ‘miler’, a one-mile circular walk around the lake, and look out for our Poetry in the Park plaques. This walk is totally flat, on surfaced and unsurfaced paths, and gives you the chance to feed the ducks, spot birds or have fun in the nearby play area.

The park also hosts a monthly Saturday club, as part of our Watch This Space scheme. The club explores wildlife in the park and is suitable for children aged seven to 12. Younger children can also attend but must be accompanied by an adult.

Barnett Demesne and Clement Wilson Park

Barnett Demesne and Clement Wilson offers fantastic walks and hidden gems along the Lagan towpath.

In Barnett Demesne, you can explore the trees in our arboretum and see wildlife such as rabbits, badgers and birds, including jays and rooks. The park also has a refurbished play area, near Shaw’s Bridge, which is ideal for children.

Both parks are part of the National Cycle Network, so why not bring your bike along and enjoy a cycle alongside the River Lagan?

Cave Hill Country Park

Cave Hill Country Park contains lots of natural and historical features. Head to the park to enjoy breathtaking views and stand 'on top' of Belfast.

The park contains three waymarked walking routes:
It also contains Belfast Castle, where you can relax and enjoy a tea or coffee after your walk. Children can enjoy Cave Hill Adventurous Playground while adults can learn more about the park in the visitor centre.

Ulster Way

The Lagan Valley towpath forms part of this 1,000 km circular walking route around Northern Ireland. The pathway stretches from Belfast to Lisburn and can be enjoyed as part of the Ulster Way or on its own.
