We provide advice and support to community projects and other play opportunities for children throughout Belfast.

Play development officer

Boy playing Our play development officer works closely with play workers and groups to improve play facilities for children in Belfast.

As well as developing our Child Protection and Play policies and organising internal and external training on these subjects, she helps community groups develop their own play policies and delivers training and practical workshops for play workers.
The officer also provides support to community projects, play centres and summer schemes, organises special play events and plans new schemes to create quality play for everyone, for example, the Play For All project for children with disabilities.


Resource packs

Young people We have produced several resource packs for community groups and other organisations working with children.

These include a Play For All video and information leaflets to help groups develop inclusive play opportunities for children with disabilities, Playwork code of practice leaflets which outline best practice for staff and volunteers, a information folder for parents, and a Playright training pack which contains a video and training notes for volunteers and staff.

Venue and Transport Information Book

Boy blowing bubbles This brochure is for community groups and summer schemes planning activities or trips to venues across Northern Ireland.

It contains information about disabled access, as well as details of health and safety features, staffing, child protection policy and insurance issues, ease of access and on-site facilities, so groups can assess the suitability of venues. The information provided is subject to change and we recommend checking with a venue or service before booking a trip.
