Corporate Plan

Summary

Our corporate plans outline our priorities to help improve life in Belfast. They explain what we are doing to create a safer, cleaner and more attractive city.

The activities in this plan are focused around three key areas:

• improving quality of life, now and for future generations
• providing leadership and strategic direction for shaping, developing and managing the city
• meeting the needs of local people through the effective delivery of quality, customer-focused services.

This plan also sets out the improvements that we will be making to our key processes over the coming year. These include the way we plan and set priorities, how our finances are managed, the way we get the best from our people and the way we manage communications and information.

These are the building blocks that any good organisation needs to put in place if it is to fulfill its potential. We are already seeing the benefits of these changes in terms of efficiencies and better performance management. By making our processes more efficient, we will free up resources to better support frontline service delivery.

We will also implement our new governance structures. This will involve reducing the number of committees, which will help to speed up our decision-making processes and reduce the amount of time spent in meetings. This will give our councillors more time to do what they do best - working with communities and individuals to address the issues that matter to them.

Notice of conclusion of audit

In accordance with the Local Government (Accounts and Audit) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006, notice is given that the audit of the accounts for the year ending 31 March 2007 has been concluded by the local government auditor.

Any member of the public can:

• inspect and make copies of the statements of accounts (or any part of it) prepared by us
• inspect and make copies of any report (or any part of it) made to us by the local government auditor
• get copies of any such statement or report at a cost of £10 per copy.
