Rates for 2011 - 2012
Your rates bill is made up of the regional and district rates.Regional rate
The regional rate, set by central government, has not yet been set for 2011- 2012.It is due to be set at the end of March. This will make up 55 per cent of your rates bill.
District rate
The district rate, set by us, is to rise by 2.95 per cent.It is significantly lower than the 4 per cent rate of inflation and represents a cut in real terms and is the second lowest rates rise in ten years.
The district rate is the main source of income for councils with over 75 per cent of our income coming from rates.
We have worked extremely hard to keep the rates down while making sure that we maintain and improve our services and plan for the future.
This means an average weekly increase of:
- 14p per week for a terrace house
- 22p per week for a semi-detached three bedroom house
- 39p per week for a four-bedroom detached house.
